Clean Energy

At Milhão, energy management is designed to meet the highest standards of efficiency and sustainability, turning challenges into concrete solutions.

Renewable Sources

All the energy used is purchased on the open market and comes from 100% renewable sources, certified by the International Renewable Energy Certificate (I-REC). This allows Milhão to eliminate carbon emissions associated with electricity consumption, consolidating a highly efficient operational model.

GHG Protocol

We apply the guidelines of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol to monitor and manage greenhouse gas emissions across all industrial operations. This practice enables an annual reduction of more than 2,500 tons of CO₂, promoting greater transparency and environmental responsibility.

Biofuels

We have adopted ethanol as the sole fuel for our internal fleet, eliminating the use of gasoline. This transition significantly reduces carbon emissions from internal transportation, aligning with our emission reduction targets.

Dry-Milling

We use the Dry-Milling process to efficiently process corn. This industrial technique minimizes water consumption by eliminating the need for large volumes during processing, optimizing natural resources and reducing environmental impact.

How it works

Separates corn components (germ, fiber, and starch) without generating wastewater.

Uses minimal water spray during the degermination phase, which evaporates during the process, eliminating liquid effluents.

Water in the Oil Industry

In oil production, we use a closed-loop cooling system to eliminate effluents and maximize water reuse.

Controlled evaporation is offset by minimal replenishment, ensuring thermal efficiency.

Waste management at Milhão is guided by strict compliance with current environmental legislation, ensuring that every step is carried out with maximum safety and efficiency.

To ensure waste control and traceability, the company requires the following from its service providers:

Waste Transportation Manifest (MTR):
A mandatory document used to track the transportation of waste to its final destination.

Final Disposal Certificate (CDF):
A certificate that proves the correct disposal of waste, required from all waste management service providers.

In corn processing, no solid waste is discarded, as everything is reused.

What is not intended for human consumption is redirected to animal feed, ensuring the full use of resources.

In addition, Milhão adopts practices based on the principles of the 4Rs, promoting an integrated approach to reduce environmental impact and maximize resource efficiency.

Recycle

Partnerships with companies like Eureciclo ensure the recycling of 100% of the packaging for the Só o Ouro and Vó Biluca brands through an environmental compensation system.

Corn cob waste and cafeteria waste are used for composting, promoting the sustainable reuse of organic materials.

The company also recycles 100% of the materials used in the administrative sector, including paper, plastic, glass, and metal.

Strict monitoring and control of industrial waste generation to minimize unnecessary disposal.

Segregation of sweep waste and procurement of Kraft paper packaging and pallets only from suppliers that use raw materials from sustainable sources.

Reuse

Closed-loop systems in the oil industry ensure continuous water reuse, eliminating the generation of effluents.

Reuse of multiway packaging (big bags) for transporting products up to 20 times, reducing the demand for new packaging.

Repurposing of silo bags for the creation of tarpaulins used in visual communication and civil construction applications.
